We are told, often, that the secret to a better life is a morning routine. The advice always involves early rises, exercise, journaling, cold showers. It is exhausting to read about.
We think smaller.
One ritual. Five minutes. No phone.
A ritual is a deliberate pause. The kettle goes on. You take a mug from the shelf. You measure out the leaves. You wait. That is all. Nothing is produced. Nothing is achieved. It is five minutes that belong to you.
It is not the tea. It is the signal your body learns to recognise. The kettle boiling means: rest is coming. Over time, the ritual becomes a trigger. Your nervous system starts to unwind the moment you reach for the mug.
Pick a time. Same time every day. Morning or evening. Brew your tea. Sit somewhere without a screen. Give yourself five minutes. Do not optimise it. Do not journal about it. Just drink the tea.
That is the whole thing. And it is enough.
